Good comfort food for Europeans and Americans. The gyoza were nice, the ribs bland, but the wagyu steak good. The atmosphere can't be beat though, with the friendliest staff, and they speak excellent English with an easy to read English menu. A great experience with well cooked not highly spiced food. I recommend it if you are in the mood for something friendly and fun.

Awesome meal in Kyoto. The whole experience was really great. Customer service was among the best we’ve received anywhere. The quality of the food is also excellent. The owners really go above and beyond with everything to ensure you leave happy and full. Make sure you get a reservation (extremely easy via the website and email). Also extremely well priced.

Excellent customer service in a family-owned cozy restaurant. Beautiful food presentation in hot stoneware. Attention to detail such as hot towels, consistently replenished drinks , and walls decorated with messages from customers around the world helped round out a lovely evening filled with delicious Japanese comfort food. Reservations are a must and host is responsive to email.

Good teppanyaki store, do make a reservation as many were disappointed while I was there. Overall, food is good and price is value for money.

Great food, great service and super friendly owners who will always provide a great dining experience. Been to this restaurant last year for the first time and it was so good that when I'm back in Kyoto again this year, I have to visit them again!

We had a fantastic dinner in this place. We feel we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was super kind and they always ensure we felt comfortable and looked after. The place is small and you MUST make a reservation in advance (just email them). The food is cooked in front of you and omg it was delicious and also reasonably priced (A5 100gr wagyu steak for ¥1800!!!) If I could I would rate this place with 6 stars.Update: It was so good that we came back 2 days later for more wagyu, gyoza and negiyaki :)

One of my most memorable moments of my trip to Kyoto was eating here. Amazing food and awesome atmosphere. HIDEKI & NAOKO were Kakouii and YÅ«gana hosuto.

Such incredible food at a very reasonable price! We had the second set available on the menu (which is extensive and has English available) and all 5 serves were fantastic. Including the A5 Wagyu beef which does quite literally 'melt in your mouth'. The service was brilliant, both of the hosts Hideki and Naoko go out of their way to make you feel warm, welcome and accommodated to. They are very friendly and really nice to have a chat with. Booking ahead is essential as they go by reservation only and we saw quite a few people turned away at the door. This place is a must visit if you are in Kyoto!

Make a reservation! Food was nice. A nice atmosphere. The wagyu cut was never presented to us, and I had to stand up and check it while it was being cooked. Next time we will try their okonomiyaki!

awesome place for food and very affordable! Everything is cooked right in front of you and you can’t get it fresher than that! The staff are extremely hospitable and make you feel very at home. This is a must do dining experience in Kyoto. Take a taxi to get there, it’s about 10 mins from Kyoto station.

Favourite place of our trip in Japan for its quality, deliciousness, reasonable price and warm hospitality. Definitely recommend!!!

Lovely little place run by a couple that serves delicious Japanese cuisine at reasonable rates. Don't forget to try the grade A5 Wagyu beef. The highest quality. It just melts in your mouth. 🤤

Loved the decor and the feel. We took the recommendation of the chef and it was all delicious. We had a baby with us so that may have changed the dynamic a bit.The wagyu beef was nothing I had started before and the stirfried veges were seasoned to perfection.

Super delicious teppan food!! It's a small place so be sure to make a reservation on their website. Chef understands English, very funny/hospitable and makes great recommendations! Try their seasonal food because it's the freshest! Especially the mushroom varieties. The lotus root shown in the picture is super delicious as well!! The okonomiyaki I feel was so so, but yakitori was delicious!

Unassuming entrance leads to a world of happiness through wonderfully prepared food. Run by husband and wife team, Hideki and Naoko, this place manages to serve up plate after plate of delicious food.It's incredible how welcome they manage to make everyone feel despite the limited seatings. I think the restaurant seats 18 max so bookings are absolutely essential. Judging from the many hand written notes (read bank notes from various currencies) left by previous patrons, this place certainly delivers happiness in spades.Their menu is extensive and very well priced. From fatty waygu to seafoods to street favourites like okonomiyaki，this place has got your taste buds covered.Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will definitely come back!Domo Arigato!

Simply outstanding from start to finish! we chose one of the set meals for two and every course was fantastic. Anyone who says different is lying or impossible to please. The owners are wonderfully inviting warm hosts and make you feel very welcome. Believe the hype, the wagyu was fantastic...let it sit on your tongue for a very seconds before you devour it. Make a reservation! seating is limited and i watched a bunch of people turned away at the door because there simply wasn't any room. made for the perfect end to our day in Kyoto.

I REALLY recommend this place. Food and service excellent. And price is actually very good for the quality!! I wish we could have gone before and repeat another day...You have to book a table a pair of days before!Lovely owners!!!

Incredible Wagyu beef. Everything else on the menu is also absolutely fantastic but that beef. I'll dream about that beef for years to come. Great atmosphere and wonderful hosts. You'll need to book in advance to get a seat but it's worth it. The only point I'd make is that the clientele (myself included) was westerner-heavy so if you'd like an atmosphere with more locals this may not be the place you're after. Unfortunately that means you'll miss out on some of the finest Teppenyaki in Kyoto 🤷‍♂️

By far the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. My husband and I can’t stop talking about it! We had a warm welcome and ate the most delicious dinner. The owner cooks right in front of you while his wife serves. Not many seats inside but the atmosphere is beautiful and unique. 100% must go if in Kyoto!

Amazing food and even better service. The wagyu is on par with the stuff we had in Kobe which cost 8 times more.Staff very friendly and spoke good English, and they even take a photo of us and sent an email the next day thanking us for our visit. Prices very modest for quality of the food, and we even ordered more after we were done. They were very happy to cook more for us (which sometimes in Japan can be a rarity). Easily the best place I ate in Japan.

How anyone can rate this as less than 5 stars is beyond me. We had the most amazing meal and Naoko & Hideki were wonderful hosts, keen to share knowledge and make our meal extra special! You need to book in advance (I booked via email) but it's SO worth it as you get a very reasonably priced meal and the quality of the food is exceptional. I think we paid about 12,000 yen but we had 4 portions of wagyu, stir fried vegetables, rice and the most amazing gyozas (honestly, the gyozas back here in the UK have been put to shame 😂). You will also not find A5 wagyu for this price anywhere else. Naoko took a photo of us and emailed it the next day with a lovely thank you message. You really feel like family visiting this place, it's wonderful. I am recommending anyone who goes to Japan to visit this place as it's so good, the hosts are amazing and the decor is lovely as well. I can't wait to visit again when we go back to Kyoto 😍 arigatou gozaimasu!! 💜

A5 wagyu beef at reasonable price

Great place! You need have a reservation as the space is limited. The owners are very friendly. And the food was delicious. We tried various things ( beef, chicken, vegetables, fried noodles etc.) and all was good. Definitely a place to have dinner in Kyoto!
